Single Barn Doors

A fascinating architectural addition to your home is a set of barn doors. With so many plans, style, fit, and finish possibilities, barn doors, in step with the market trend, has the intention of remodeling and equipping your homes with the highest caliber. You've seen a variety of door alternatives and are familiar with popular door designs like hinged doors and glass sliding doors, but specially designed sliding barn doors are another level.

What is a sliding barn door?

A sliding barn door, which normally features a wooden or metal door fixed on a sliding track, can be positioned anywhere in the house. Instead of opening and closing like a regular door, they require adjacent wall space that is at least as broad as your door, they slide to the side and drape neatly against the wall.

How to install a sliding barn door?

Apart from their functionality, the main objective is how to install them. So, you can install a sliding barn door anywhere in the house with the help of a few tools.  For your convenience, we have provided a thorough, step-by-step guide below. What you will need for a DIY:

  • Pencil
  • Drill
  • Stud finder
  • Level
  • Step ladder
  • Someone to assist you to lift the door

Step 1: Fasten your door hardware

On your barn door, install the door hardware and then mark it. Included in this are the doors, rollers, wheels, and anti-jump disks—the little rubber blocks that protect the door from flying off its track. When installing these pieces of hardware, be careful to adhere to our instructions for your particular product because every door is unique. However, the following are a few excellent practices to take into account:

  • To get an accurate placement when marking the location of the rollers, place the track between the roller's wheel and the top of the door.
  • To ensure easy sliding, allow adequate room between the door and the track.
  • Mark the location of the inner handle a few inches inward from the door's edge.
  • Make sure you can reach the handle once the door is closed because the barn door will overlap the doorway by a few inches.

Step 2: Locate the studs

It's best to fasten the hardware to the studs rather than just the drywall because barn doors are heavy and move on a track. So, to locate the studs:

  • Find the studs above your entryway using a stud finder.
  • With a pencil, indicate where the studs are.
  • Match the wall studs with the holes in your track.
  • Drill the studs with pilot holes.
  • You will need to install a support beam that runs the length of the track if the studs don't line up properly with the track mounts.
  • Make sure the beam is large enough to pass over the door frame's trim.

Step 3: Attach the Tracker

Holding the track up against the wall until it is aligned with the appropriate placement and making that the track holes line up with the stud holes, is a crucial point. To make sure the track is level and straight, use a level, and then:

  • Mark the wall track and the non-stud track mounting holes with a pencil.
  • Drill the remaining holes after removing the track.
  • Use a drill to connect the track and screws to the wall by realigning them to the holes that were just drilled.
  • While you tighten these, have someone to hold the track.
  • Verify that the track is being held firmly against the wall.

Step 4: Install Stoppers

Attach the stoppers to the metal track's ends by sliding them on. Screws should be tightened using the provided hardware.

Step 5: Attach the Barn Door to the frame

You can now hang your barn door because your track is fastened to the wall and your rollers are fastened to the door. Lift the door with someone’s assistance so that the rollers are just above the track. Lower the rollers onto the track gradually. To make sure it is firmly aligned, move the door back and forth on the track.

Step 6: Install the Floor Guides

Install the floor guide, and hardware that prevents barn doors from swinging out of position and make sure the door slides smoothly. Place the door so that it is hanging straight, then install the guide as directed in our instructions.
